To play choose story mode or arcade mode. Arcade mode is a quick play option that doesn’t follow the Proteus 3D campaign, great for practice or a quick session.

Controls:

Left soft key: Engage the Proteus mecha armor mode. In this mode your ship will take less damage, but it can only be active for a short time.

Right soft key: detonate a bomb that will clear the screen of enemies, use these to get out of a tight spot.

Directional pad or number keypad: Controls the direction of the Proteus ship

Center Key: Fire

Gameplay:

Your Mission is to destroy hostile craft and rescue escape pods. Rescuing escape pods and destroying enemies earn you a bounty which can be spent at the spaceport . Rescuing an escape pod gives you a sizable bounty of 100 credits while Bosses yield a massive 200 credits bounty. Small and large enemies give you 5 and 15 credits respectively. The spaceport is a shop where you can trade in your credits for ship upgrades. Upgrade your ship and inflict massive damage to the enemy armada.

Upgrade Items:

Reserve ship: A reserve ship that will automatically engage upon destruction of the current ship.

Laser pistol: A high power, low range constant beam that will carve a path of destruction.

Spread cannon: Similar to the particle cannon, this weapon has been upgraded to fire three shots at a time.

Particle cannon: A forced mass particle gun, using magnetic coil fusion to create a powerful ball of desctruction.

Tornado missiles: Highly explosive missiles blast enemy ships to bits

Energy shields: A shield that will absorb a certain number of hostile attacks.
