In an expansive market research survey released by Magmic Games and Information Solutions Group (ISG), users of mobile entertainment products on smartphone devices responded overwhelmingly that smartphone devices provided a superior entertainment experience than traditional feature-phone handsets. The results also indicate that playing games on smartphone devices is becoming the dominant method of gaming for those users compared to other gaming platforms. The survey results represent more than 3,750 consumers that have purchased games, themes, music and other entertainment products for BlackBerry® devices or other smartphones.  more»»

Miner 2049er was a fantastic classic from the golden era of computer gaming -- it even showed up on a variety of consoles from the eighties, too. It's a platformer in the vein of Donkey Kong. Bounty Bob must scurry across every inch of a series of mines, collecting gear and avoiding mutants. Magmic dusted this forgotten gem off for mobile, presenting both the original game and an updated version in the same download. Not only is it a good value, but it's a great nostalgia trip for us old-timers.  more»»

Maker Research In Motion has a lot to answer for. However, we've picked up a distinct trend in the last year for more frivolous uses for a BlackBerry: namely gaming. For example, Gameloft has been converting some of its most popular titles to run on BlackBerries, while recently In-Fusio and Hudson Entertainment have struck deals with BlackBerry games publisher Magmic to convert their games for the devices.
