Ka-Glom Reaches #1 Free App on Japan iTunes

We’re pleased to announce that Magmic’s flagship puzzle game, Ka-Glom, has achieved the number-one position in free game downloads on Apple’s iTunes App Store in Japan!

Ka-Glom has always been popular on BlackBerry and Windows Mobile, so we’ve been watching its progress worldwide since launching the free game onto App Store in July. With well over five million downloads of Ka-Glom on all platforms, we expected a great response from the iPhone and iPod Touch version, but its success in Japan is truly amazing.

Ka-Glom is a game of falling blocks, where the player must align like-colored groups of special “Ka-Gloms” to create chain reactions of explosions. In short, the more explosions, the higher your score. We have seen incredibly high scores on this game, yet it is challenging enough to keep you up at night playing. Scores can be posted online to compare with other players, and this in part is driving the adoption rate as people love to try to beat each other’s high scores.
